About the Role
Construo Recruitment is working in partnership with a successful highways and civil engineering contractor to recruit a Commercial Assistant / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial career within a dynamic infrastructure and civils environment. You will support the wider commercial function across billing, subcontractor management, invoice processing, and financial administration, while gaining valuable exposure to NEC4 contracts and live infrastructure projects.
The role would suit someone organised, analytical, and eager to build a long-term career within the construction or civil engineering sector.
Key Responsibilities
Support the commercial team with day-to-day project and financial administration
Assist with accounts, billing, and invoice processing activities
Prepare financial information for applications and valuations
Manage and maintain subcontractor documentation and records
Analyse figures and cross-check bills and invoices for accuracy
Liaise with project managers, accounts teams, and subcontractors
Escalate commercial queries and discrepancies where required
Assist with drafting commercial and contractual documentation
Support pricing activities and documentation reviews
Work efficiently to meet project and commercial deadlines
Requirements
Previous commercial or administration experience within construction or civil engineering (preferred)
Understanding of NEC4 contracts
Strong analytical and organisational skills
Ability to interpret and manage contract-related documentation
Good understanding of pricing schedules and commercial processes
Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems
