As a Purchase Ledger Apprentice, you'll become part of a forward-thinking business that values learning and development. Working alongside experienced finance professionals, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience while contributing to the smooth running of a company that plays an important role in supplying fresh produce to consumers across the UK.
You will Support the Purchase Ledger team with the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification. The role offers structured training and hands-on experience within the Finance function, providing the opportunity to develop knowledge of purchase ledger processes, financial controls, and wider finance operations.
Other responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the day-to-day processing of supplier invoices, including PO, Non-PO, Dry Goods and Consignment invoices.
- Learn how to check invoices for accuracy and forward them to relevant budget holders for approval.
- Supporting the maintenance of supplier records, including setting up new supplier accounts and updating existing supplier details in line with company procedures and fraud prevention controls.
- Monitor shared finance email inboxes and help respond to supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Learn to investigate invoice, payment and supplier account queries and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Assisting with supplier payment runs, remittance generation and payment allocations under supervision.
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent).
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Good numerical and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and a professional telephone manner.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a Finance environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and commitment to completing an apprenticeship programme.

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
