Head of Group Operations – North

£55,000 – £60,000 + Bonus | Full-Time | Monday to Friday | Weekly travel to HQ

dedicated and experienced Head of Group Operations to join our team and oversee the efficient
operations within our north region.
The Opportunity
The purpose of the Head of Group Operations – North is to provide strategic and operational leadership
across all Northern depots, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality, efficient, and safe
operations. This role is responsible for driving performance, fostering a strong operational culture, and
ensuring compliance with company standards, whilst supporting growth and profitability. Acting as the
key link between the Group Operations Director and the regional teams, the Head of Group Operations
– North ensures alignment with overall business objectives, whilst delivering excellent customer service
and operational excellence at a regional level.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations across all Northern depots, ensuring smooth, efficient,
and safe delivery of services.
- Implement and uphold consistent operational standards, processes, and KPIs across sites.
- Monitor performance and drive continuous improvement to maximise productivity and
efficiency.
- Manage and mentor depot managers and operational leads within the Northern region.
- Ensure effective workforce planning, recruitment, training, and staff development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
- Ensure excellent customer experience and service delivery standards across all jobs and
projects.
- Act as an escalation point for major customer or partner issues.
- Ensure all operations are compliant with health & safety, legal, and industry standards.
- Drive a proactive safety culture, reducing incidents and risks.
- Maintain compliance with internal policies, insurance, and audit requirements.
- Manage regional budgets, cost control, and resource allocation to meet financial targets.
- Contribute to group-level strategy and support the delivery of business growth plans.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency, cost savings, and scalability.
- Provide regular reporting on operational performance, KPIs, and regional challenges.
- Work closely with the Group Operations Director to align Northern operations with overall
company objectives.
- Communicate effectively across depots and departments to ensure alignment and consistency.
Skills & Knowledge
- Previous experience in providing strategic and operational leadership across multiple sites,
preferably in the construction or home improvement industry (or similar)
- Strong knowledge of joinery, loft boarding materials, tools/ equipment and logistics.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
