Room Lead – Early Years
Location: TR3 7PE
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £13.50 per hour (depending on experience)
Qualification: Level 3 Early Years (minimum)
About the role
We are looking for a confident and experienced Room Leader to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our room of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 year old children. You will lead a small team, ensure outstanding care and education for children, and support the Room Manager and leadership team in delivering high-quality early years practice.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily running of the room, ensuring a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment
- Act as a positive role model for staff, supporting and mentoring practitioners within the room
- Plan, implement and review activities in line with the EYFS framework
- Complete high-quality observations, assessments and learning journeys
- Carry out accurate and timely 2-year progress checks, working in partnership with parents and other professionals where required
- Build strong relationships with children, parents and carers
- Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery policies are followed at all times
- Support children’s individual needs, including SEND where appropriate
- Work closely with the management team to maintain high standards and prepare for Ofsted inspections
Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years (or equivalent)
- Proven experience completing 2-year progress checks
- Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting
- Experience supporting or leading a small team (preferred)
- Sound knowledge of the EYFS and child development
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A caring, reliable and professional approach
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
