Job Description
About the Role
The IT Hardware Asset Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the effective management, governance and control of hardware assets across the organisation. Reporting to the IT Asset Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of hardware assets from receipt and deployment through to recovery and disposal. You will ensure that asset records remain accurate, complete and compliant, providing the foundation for effective operational management, audit readiness and informed decision-making across the technology estate.
You will work closely with Service Desk, End User Support and Digital Workplace teams to ensure asset management processes are embedded into day-to-day operations. In particular, you will play a critical role in supporting joiner, mover and leaver activities, ensuring devices are allocated, recovered and reallocated efficiently and accurately.
You will maintain the integrity of the Hardware Asset Repository (HAR) and associated asset management systems, carrying out stock reconciliations, managing secure storage arrangements and ensuring all asset movements are accurately recorded. You will also help ensure that hardware governance remains robust as technology services evolve, including supporting relationships with third-party providers and Device as a Service (DaaS) partners where applicable.
Occasional travel to branch locations and other local sites will be required to undertake stock checks, support asset recovery activities and maintain high levels of asset control across the organisation.
About You
You are an organised and detail-focused asset management professional who understands the importance of accurate data, robust controls and effective governance. You have experience working within IT hardware asset management or asset lifecycle management and enjoy ensuring that processes are followed consistently and efficiently.
You have a solid understanding of the end-to-end asset lifecycle, including receiving, tracking, allocation, recovery and disposal, and are confident using asset management platforms such as ServiceNow, Certero or equivalent tools. You take pride in maintaining accurate records and have a methodical approach to investigating and resolving discrepancies when they arise.
Being comfortable working across multiple teams and building strong relationships with colleagues in Service Desk, End User Support, Digital Workplace and supplier organisations. You understand how effective asset management supports user onboarding, device refresh programmes, operational service delivery and wider governance requirements.
You should possess strong analytical and organisational skills, enabling you to manage asset data across multiple systems while producing meaningful reporting and insights. You recognise the importance of compliance, audit readiness and secure asset handling, including the management of end-of-life equipment and data destruction requirements.
