Furniture Flammability Technician required to join a busy organization with head offices based in Kettering, Northants.
The Technician will join a specialist team undertaking tests on furniture and associated materials / components to British, European and International standards to ensure furniture is fit for purpose and safe to use.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Preparing and conditioning samples supplied by manufacturers, retailers and suppliers
- Operating equipment to test a range of samples to British, European and International standards
- Planning and agreeing testing schedules
- Maintaining cleanliness of the lab areas

- GCSEs including Maths, English and at least one Science subject
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Good computer skills - Word, Excel
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and show good attention to detail
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Good time management and scheduling skills
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
- Flexibility, tenacity and a 'can do' attitude
Desirable:
- Experience of working in the furniture industry
- Experience working within a regulated laboratory environment
- Experience in testing different types of consumer products
- Full, clean driving licence
