Experience needed . We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Potato Preparation Operative. This role involves preparing potatoes for processing, ensuring quality standards are met, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. Responsibilities
- Sorting, peeling, and cutting potatoes according to specified standards and procedures
- Operating basic hand tools and power tools safely during preparation tasks
- Assisting with irrigation systems to ensure optimal crop growth conditions
- Conducting routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment utilised in potato processing
- Monitoring the condition of potatoes for quality assurance purposes
- Assisting with the organisation of storage areas and ensuring cleanliness of workspaces
- Supporting team members with heavy lifting and other manual handling duties as required
- Maintaining accurate records related to production activities and equipment maintenance
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
Skills
- Basic knowledge of horticulture practices, particularly related to potato cultivation and harvesting
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to equipment repair and maintenance
- Experience with irrigation systems and understanding of plant care requirements is advantageous
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and perform minor repairs confidently
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in handling produce and maintaining records
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and prolonged periods of standing or manual work
- Basic maths skills for measurement, portioning, and record keeping purposes
- Familiarity with animal care or general farm maintenance is a plus but not essential
- Good teamwork ethic with effective communication skills
