Role Overview
As an IT Support Technician, you will maintain, upgrade, and manage our local area networks, hardware, and software. Serving as the primary point of contact for internal technical support, you will ensure our infrastructure runs smoothly, securely, and efficiently to minimise downtime. You will also play a key role in developing and maintaining scripts and code to automate and manage our growing IT estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Helpdesk Support: Provide prompt, effective 1st and 2nd line support (remote and in-person) for hardware, software, and network queries.
- Automation & Scripting: Create and maintain scripts and code to streamline management of the IT estate.
- Hardware & Software Setup: Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot laptops, workstations, mobile devices, and peripherals across Windows 11 and macOS environments.
- Network Monitoring: Assist with maintaining local area networks (LAN), Wi-Fi, and general connectivity.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement antivirus software, firewalls, and backups while ensuring full adherence to UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Account Management: Administer user accounts, access permissions, and passwords via Google Workspace.
- Asset & Knowledge Management: Maintain hardware/software inventories and produce clear technical documentation and user guides.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade 4/C+ in English & Maths
- Level 3 IT Qualification
- Proficiency with Windows 11 & Google Workspace
- Troubleshooting experience across Windows, macOS, and hardware
- Ability to write/maintain scripts for systems administration
- Solid understanding of basic networking (LAN, Wi-Fi, connectivity)
- Basic understanding of the Cyber Essentials framework
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Logical problem-solving abilities and task prioritisation under pressure
Key Prerequisites
Candidates must possess existing permission to work in the UK without requiring visa sponsorship. Successful candidates must pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Pay: £27,400.00-£35,000.00 per year
