Kitchen Assistant – Term Time Only
Ideal School Meals supplies a range of catering services to primary schools across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team in Sleaford. Own transport is essential.
This is a varied, hands on role supporting the preparation and delivery of school meals while helping to maintain high standards throughout the kitchen environment.
Duties will include:
- Food preparation and cooking
- Washing up and cleaning duties
- Packing away deliveries
- General kitchen support
- Delivering meals to schools during periods of high demand or staff absence
Working hours: 6:30 am – 2:00 pm (variable)
This is a term time only position. September 2026 stat date.
Are you our ideal candidate?
You will:
- Understand the importance of food hygiene and take pride in maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
- Have culinary skills, whether gained in a professional kitchen or through home cooking.
- Have good written English and numeracy skills.
- Be friendly, approachable, and possess excellent customer service skills.
Existing food safety training would be an advantage; however, full training will be provided on our internal food safety management systems and cooking methods.

This role requires:
- An enhanced DBS check
- A Children's Barred List check
- Two references from previous employers
Pay: £12.71 per hour
