Supporting a Friendly and Independent Young Adult in Halifax
Do You Enjoy Helping Young People Achieve Their Goals and Become More Independent?
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support a friendly, sociable and determined young adult as they transition to college and adult life.
The successful applicant will support someone who enjoys cheerleading, music, beauty, shopping, animals, spending time with family and friends, and taking part in community activities. The role focuses on building confidence, independence, life skills and community involvement whilst ensuring safety and wellbeing.
About the Role
You will support the individual to:
- Access social and leisure activities in the community.
- Attend cheerleading, shopping trips, social events and activities of interest.
- Build confidence using public transport and travelling independently.
- Develop everyday life skills, including budgeting, shopping and meal preparation.
- Maintain friendships and develop new social connections.
- Stay safe in the community and make positive decisions.
- Build confidence as they start college and move towards greater independence.
- Explore opportunities connected to future employment and personal interests.

Experience
Essential
- Experience supporting young people or adults with additional needs.
- Understanding of safeguarding and personal safety.
- Ability to work flexibly.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
- Experience supporting people with learning disabilities.
- Knowledge of independent living skills and travel training.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

- Encourage them to try new things.
- Have a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
- Promote independence whilst helping them stay safe.
