Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team
Location: Ashford, Kent
Contract: Temporary Locum Position
Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour
Sanctuary Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join a Children with Disabilities Team in Ashford. This locum opportunity is ideal for a passionate social work professional who has experience supporting children, young people, and families with complex needs while promoting independence, choice, and positive outcomes.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, completing assessments, developing support plans, and working collaboratively with families, professionals, and partner agencies to ensure children and young people receive the right support at the right time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of children, young people, and families within a Children with Disabilities service.
- Undertake assessments to identify needs, strengths, risks, and appropriate levels of support.
- Develop and review personalised support plans in line with statutory requirements and best practice guidance.
- Support families to access appropriate services, community resources, direct payments, and commissioned support.
- Ensure children, young people, and families remain at the centre of decision-making processes.
- Promote independence, choice, advocacy, and self-determination for children and young people.
- Identify and manage safeguarding concerns, quality of care issues, and risks in line with safeguarding procedures.
- Work closely with education, health professionals, and partner agencies to support Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other individual plans.
- Build effective multi-agency relationships with statutory services, voluntary organisations, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure assessments, reviews, and interventions are completed within required timescales.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Experience working within children’s social care, ideally within a Children with Disabilities team.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, assessments, care planning, and statutory frameworks.
- Experience supporting children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work independently.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and partnership-working skills.
- Commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and families.
