We are looking for a reliable, quality-driven Breakfast Chef to join our small, friendly team at Artist Residence in Penzance.
This role is ideal for someone local, living in Penzance or within easy walking distance, who takes real pride in their work and understands that breakfast sets the tone for a guest’s whole day.
The role & hours
This is primarily a breakfast chef position. We are looking to split the hours between two people, covering 7 days a week:
- Monday – Friday: 7.45am – 10.30am
- Saturday & Sunday: 7.45am – 10.45/11am (with opportunity to help with lunch shifts)
This role suits someone looking for early morning shifts with afternoons free.
Key responsibilities
- Running breakfast service independently
- Cooking and plating breakfast to a consistently high standard
- Working calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised and well-prepped
- Completing pot wash and kitchen close-down
All food is fresh, wholesome and rustic, using quality ingredients and simple dishes done properly.

- Some kitchen experience required (breakfast experience a bonus)
- Reliable, punctual and well organised
- Confident working solo
- Takes pride in every plate served
- Understands quality ingredients and attention to detail
- Lives locally and can easily get to work early mornings

While this role is first and foremost about breakfast, there may be opportunities for the right person to grow with the team.
If you have an interest in baking or food prep, there may be opportunities to make cakes, bakes and light lunch items for guests. As the season progresses, there may also be additional evening or weekend lunch shifts available.
During the summer months our garden opens fully and our Shack Bar comes to life, bringing further opportunities for those who want to be involved.
