NON CYC VACANCY
York Advocacy Hub provides a range of independent advocacy support, to people across York. Helping individuals to have their voice heard, understand their rights and be involved in decisions that can have a significant impact on their lives.
The Hub delivers both statutory and non-statutory advocacy services, including advocacy under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Care Act. We also offer NHS complaints advocacy, general advocacy and short-term appointment-based support. Our advocates work alongside people who may be facing difficult, or complex situations, relating to their health, care, rights and wellbeing. They may be finding it difficult to have their views heard or be fully involved in decisions affecting them.
We are looking for a highly motivated, organised, reliable and approachable Administrator, to play an important role in the day-to-day running of the service. For many people, the administrator will be their first contact with the Hub, so the way enquiries and referrals are handled can make a real difference to their experience of accessing support.
You will work closely with the Service Managers and wider advocacy team; processing referrals and enquiries, maintaining accurate client records, coordinating waiting lists and appointments, monitoring shared inboxes and providing administrative support across our appointment-based and partner services. Your work will help ensure that important information is not missed, people receive a timely response, and advocates have the information and systems they need, to provide effective person-centred support.
The role would suit someone who is naturally patient, calm, and able to respond sensitively to people who may be distressed, frustrated, or finding things difficult. You will need to listen carefully and communicate with empathy, while maintaining clear professional boundaries and be able to recognise when something needs to be passed to an advocate or Service Manager.
This is a key role based at the heart of the Advocacy Hub. You will play an integral part in our team, working to protect people’s rights and help ensure their voices are heard.
