Play a key role in advertising, allocating and letting properties.
The Property Lettings Team work collaboratively with Registered Providers of social housing in Leicester to facilitate advertising and lettings of available homes to applicants from the Council’s register. Working closely with the Housing Management, Voids, Registration Team officers, and support services, our key objective is to let void properties in a timely manner, ensuring accurate allocation in line with our policies.
This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You’ll be based St Marks Housing Office, but you’ll have the flexibility to work from home or other council buildings. You’ll be expected to attend onsite appointments with prospective tenants in our available properties therefore you’ll be able to travel across the city.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll market, allocate and let residential properties to new tenants, and undertake efficient management of residential lets. You’ll ensure that available Council and Registered Provider partners properties are accurately advertised through our Leicester HomeChoice, Choice Based Lettings website, ensuring all property details are correct to ensure accurate allocation as per the allocations policy. Offering support and advice, you’ll ensure customers are eligible to apply for social housing. You’ll carry out background checks on, as well as income checks on households to check that they are eligible and qualify for an offer of Social Housing, undertake referrals to support services, provide benefits advice, and complete tenancy sign-ups.
What you’ll need
With experience of providing good customer service, you’ll have experience working with vulnerable people, especially when faced with challenging and emotive circumstances. With an understanding of the allocations policy and relevant legislation, you’ll be able to allocate and let properties to the most eligible applicants. Using good interpersonal and communication skills, you’ll ensure customers have everything in place to help them in their new home. Proficient in IT, you’ll accurately create and maintain property details on our Housing System. You’ll be flexible, adaptable, and a strong team player.
