Retail Manager – Camping World Horsham

Camping World Horsham is home to the UK’s largest indoor tent display and is a leading specialist outdoor retailer. We showcase premium family camping equipment, caravan and campervan awnings, thousands of accessories, and growing ranges in lightweight and backpacking equipment.
We’re looking for an experienced, commercially minded Retail Manager to take ownership of our retail operation and help shape the next phase of growth.

About the Role
You’ll lead the day-to-day operation of our large, multi-department store, ensuring every area delivers an outstanding customer experience and strong commercial results.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, motivating and developing a seasonal mix of full- and part-time colleagues.
- Driving sales performance, commercial targets and key retail KPIs.
- Maintaining consistently high standards of customer service across the store.
- Continually refreshing and evolving merchandising, displays and customer-facing areas across a substantial retail site.
- Ensuring departments are commercially presented, well maintained and appropriately stocked.
- Creating a productive, accountable team culture and ensuring colleagues are effectively deployed across the store.
- Taking ownership of retail standards, site presentation, health & safety and day-to-day compliance.
- Identifying opportunities to improve the customer journey, retail environment and overall commercial performance.
Following the recent integration of our warehouse distribution and retail operations, you’ll also work closely with our on-site Operations Manager and other senior members of the business.
The warehouse and distribution operation will not ultimately sit under the Retail Manager; instead, this structure allows you to focus more closely on the retail team, commercial performance and customer experience while collaborating effectively on stock availability and the wider needs of the site.
About You
The scale and variety of the site means this role is best suited to someone with proven experience leading a large-format or similarly complex retail environment.
Experience within outdoor, DIY, home improvement, garden centre, department store or another multi-department environment would translate particularly well.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Proven experience managing a large or complex retail store.
- Strong commercial awareness and confidence working with sales figures, targets and KPIs.
- Confident people leadership, with the ability to motivate, develop and get the best from a varied team.
- A visible, hands-on leadership style and willingness to get involved on the shop floor.
- A creative eye for merchandising, presentation and the customer journey.
- Strong organisation and the ability to balance multiple departments and competing priorities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
- The ability to work collaboratively with other senior managers while taking clear responsibility for retail performance.

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
