Maintenance Person
Hours: Full-time
Reports to: Service Manager
About the Role
We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Person to work alongside our Service Manager, helping keep our care home safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for residents, staff, and visitors. This is a physical, hands-on role covering repairs, upkeep, and health & safety checks across the building and grounds — you'll be on your feet and active throughout the day.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with the Service Manager on the day-to-day upkeep of the building and grounds
- Carry out physical repairs and maintenance (plumbing, electrical basics, painting, carpentry, general fixes)
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff
- Carry out routine safety checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, water temperatures, equipment servicing schedules)
- Maintain outdoor areas, gardens, and communal spaces — including lifting, moving equipment, and manual tasks
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work and safety checks
- Liaise with external contractors when specialist work is needed
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations relevant to a care setting
What We're Looking For
- Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on, active work (lifting, standing, manual tasks throughout the day)
- A willingness to learn — full training provided on care-home-specific requirements; no need to already know everything
- A genuine team player who works well alongside the Service Manager, care staff, and residents
- Practical, hands-on skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Good communication and reliability — residents and staff need to be able to count on you
- Basic DIY/trade experience useful (plumbing, electrical, carpentry) but not essential if you're keen to learn
- Comfortable working around residents with sensitivity and care
- A full DBS check will be required (we'll support you through this)

Pay: £13.51-£15.00 per hour
