About the Role
Beckside Machinery is looking for a capable and experienced technician to join our expanding workshop team.
This is a newly created role within a fast-growing and well-established machinery business. The position is based at our Market Rasen site and will focus on the preparation, servicing, inspection, diagnosis and repair of quad bikes, ATVs, side-by-sides, UTVs and related machinery.
The work is varied and is likely to be split broadly between:
- Servicing, routine maintenance and repair
- Preparing and completing the final assembly of new vehicles
- Inspecting, servicing and repairing used vehicles before sale
We are official dealers for CFMOTO® and Can-Am® ATVs and UTVs, while also working on used quad bikes and utility vehicles from a wide range of manufacturers. Used machines are workshop inspected, serviced and certified before sale, so attention to detail and pride in workmanship are important.
This is not a role that requires experience with one particular brand. Product-specific training and support will be provided where needed.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong practical mechanical ability who can diagnose problems, manage their workload and complete work to a consistently high standard.
Direct ATV or UTV experience would be valuable, but it is not essential. We welcome applications from technicians with transferable experience, including:
- Motorcycle mechanics, particularly where experience is relevant to quad bikes and ATVs
- Car and light vehicle technicians, particularly where experience is relevant to side-by-sides and UTVs
- Agricultural machinery technicians
- Plant, groundcare or machinery mechanics
- Technicians from other relevant mechanical backgrounds
Formal mechanical qualifications are welcome, but proven practical experience and ability are equally important.
The successful candidate does not need to know every product from their first day. However, they must have a strong mechanical foundation, be capable of working independently and be willing to learn unfamiliar systems and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on ATVs, UTVs and related machinery
- Prepare and complete the final assembly of new vehicles
- Inspect, diagnose, service and repair used vehicles before sale
- Identify mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs
- Carry out electrical fault-finding and diagnostics where required
- Work with hydraulic systems where applicable
- Test completed work and ensure machines are safe and ready for use
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used
- Manage tasks and time effectively across multiple workshop jobs
- Work closely with other technicians and draw on the strengths of the wider team
- Occasionally assist with customer service requirements in a professional and presentable manner
- Attend infrequent customer-site visits during normal working hours when require.
Essential Requirements
- Strong practical mechanical experience and proven technical ability
- Good problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Strong attention to detail
- Good task and time-management skills
- Ability to work closely and effectively as part of a workshop team
- Reliable and well organised
- Full UK driving licence
- Able to commute reliably to Market Rasen
Desirable Experience
- ATV (quad bike), UTV (side-by-side) repair and servicing
- Motorcycle, automotive, agricultural machinery, plant or groundcare experience
- Electrical diagnostics, including wiring, sensors and fault-finding
- Trailer towing entitlement and experience
- Forklift experience
- Around five years of relevant mechanical experience
What We Offer
- Salary of £30,000 to £40,000, depending on experience
- Optional overtime
- Monday-to-Friday working hours
- Standard holiday entitlement, including bank holidays
- Company pension
- Christmas closure between Christmas and New Year
- Product and technical training
- Branded workwear
- Access to specialist and high-value workshop tools
- Stable, long-term employment
- A predominantly workshop-based role
- The opportunity to work on a varied range of machinery
