Job Purpose
To support the effective and efficient delivery of the academy's catering service, providing students, staff and visitors with nutritious, high-quality food in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
The Catering Assistant will work as part of the catering team to assist with food preparation, serving, cleaning and general kitchen duties, while maintaining high standards of food hygiene, health and safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve meals and refreshments to students during break and lunch times, staff and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Assist with wiping down tables and clearing areas in the canteen before and after break and lunch times
- Maintain appropriate standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and personal hygiene at all times.
- Follow academy and catering procedures relating to food safety, allergens, health and safety and safeguarding.
- Ensure food is stored, labelled and handled correctly, including monitoring and reporting food temperatures where required.
- Support the provision of meals for students with dietary requirements and allergies, following established procedures carefully.
- Wash dishes, utensils and catering equipment and maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and dining environment.
· Operate catering equipment safely and report any faults, damage or maintenance requirements promptly.
· Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and storage of food and catering supplies.
· Help minimise food waste and use catering resources efficiently.
· Maintain confidentiality and comply with academy policies and procedures.
· Contribute positively to the academy community and promote high standards of behaviour and service.
Pay: £11,656.49 per year
