Serving the Liverpool City Region, The Whitechapel Centre’s mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, realistic, tailored support so that each person can find a route out of homelessness, maintain a home and achieve their individual potential.
We have recently secured funding for a new project aimed at responding to the needs of people sleeping rough in Liverpool. Based in the Baltic Triangle area of the city, this service will provide overnight accommodation and assessment for people experiencing rough sleeping, ensuring that their immediate needs are met while helping them access training and education opportunities, secure employment, and move on to appropriate longer-term accommodation and support as quickly as possible.
Applications are invited against the role of Waking Night Support Worker.
Flexible and willing to work as part of a team, night workers will be responsible for looking after the wellbeing of people staying at the Hub overnight. This will involve assessing the suitability of referrals received from Outreach Out of Hours Services and LCC Housing Solutions Out of Hours Service, undertaking comprehensive assessments of people accepted into the Hub, allocating beds and bedding, ensuring premises are well maintained and managed, ensuring people are provided with refreshments, and ensuring that dormitory areas and people going out for a smoke are appropriately monitored.
Able to get alongside people and to motivate change, you will have extensive experience of working with people with complex needs and a range of mental and physical health issues.
Hours are 42.12 hrs/week (7.30pm to 8am on a 4 on, 4 off rota). A full job description and person specification are available upon request.
