Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Teacher to lead and oversee educational programmes within our organisation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in special education and have a passion for fostering a nurturing learning environment for children with diverse needs. This role involves planning, delivering, and evaluating educational activities tailored to individual requirements, ensuring the highest standards of care and instruction are maintained. The Head Teacher will also mentor teaching staff, collaborate with parents and external agencies, and promote inclusive practices across all programmes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement specialised curricula for children with disabilities, including toddlers and those requiring additional support.
- Lead classroom activities, ensuring they are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with individualised education plans (IEPs).
- Supervise and support teaching staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Foster effective communication with parents, carers, and external professionals to support children's progress and well-being.
- Monitor and assess children's development, maintaining detailed records of progress and behavioural observations.
- Organise training sessions on special education strategies, behaviour management, and inclusive teaching practices.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding policies, health & safety regulations, and legal requirements related to early childhood education.
- Promote a positive learning environment that encourages children’s independence, confidence, and social skills.
Skills
- Proven experience in special education or working with individuals with disabilities.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, including toddler care.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with children, parents, staff, and external agencies.
- Demonstrated ability in teaching or tutoring children across various age groups.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and behavioural challenges.
- Organised with the capacity to plan lessons, manage classroom activities efficiently, and maintain detailed documentation.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine commitment to supporting children’s growth in a caring environment.
