YMCA Lincolnshire is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Bank Sessional Youth Workers to join our team delivering exciting and varied programmes and activities for children and young people. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference, supporting young people to build confidence, have fun, and develop new skills in a safe and welcoming environment. Job Purpose
YMCA Lincolnshire operates a number of facilities and services across the county, all providing enrichment and support to the local community. We provide support to the local community, through supported housing, childcare, youth activities and community outreach work.
Our Youth Service at YMCA Lincolnshire aims to create a fun, safe, and encouraging environment where young people can develop and thrive.
Principal Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery and evaluation of play and youth work activities and a programme of imaginative activities that encourage the active participation of young people from the local community.
- Work as part of team to deliver Youth and Play Work sessions, delivering flexible, high-quality activities that meets the needs of the young people aged 5-18, and their families.
- Assist in promoting opportunities for youth participation by involving young people in the decision-making processes.
- Assist in promoting opportunities for accreditation for young people to support, accredit and celebrate their learning and achievement.
- Maintain effective working relationships and channels of communications with colleagues, children, young people and families.
- Be fully involved in all activities associated with the YMCA Lincolnshire provision and promote good practice in a professional and inclusive manner.
- Attend appropriate meetings related to youth and play work activities internally and with partner organisations.
- Support colleagues in compiling information to monitor progress where required.
- Follow safeguarding policies and guidelines and record and report concerns using the correct procedure.
- Assist with ensuring activities are delivered safely ensuring up to date awareness of risk assessments and health and safety. Assist in ensuring the delivery space is a safe for children, young people and staff, concerns are reported, and the staff team are proactive in minimising risk.
- Be knowledgeable of local support organisations in order to refer/signpost young people with significant complex needs both internally and outside of YMCA programmes.
