Due to the location and scale of our projects, there is requirement for the Senior Project Manager to be on site, typically for 2-4 days every week (Netherton Hub) and every 2nd week (Lewis Hub)
Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + car / allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role
We are looking two Senior Project Managers to join our SSEN Transmission, Offshore Delivery Team to deliver 400kV & 132kV substation packages within the Lewis Hub & Longside projects, which forms part of our Pathway to 2030 Programme. Reporting into the Lead Project Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of 400kV & 132kV substation packages. This will include managing a multi-disciplinary project team and framework supply chain partners under the Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework.
The scale of our portfolio of projects are large and is likely to grow in the coming years, meaning there will be opportunities for progression within the business.
You will
- Be responsible for the delivery of £500m+ substation construction as part of the wider Lewis & Netherton Hubs, whilst managing a team of Project Managers/ Assistant Project Managers and managing escalations with external delivery contractors. You will have demonstratable experience of operating and performing at this level in a similar construction delivery environment.
- Work closely with the Lead Project Manager to uphold the highest level of safety performance and ensure projects are refined, constructed and commissioned in accordance with regulatory requirements whilst championing SSEs Safety Golden Rules.
- Manage the NEC3 contract management of your packages, including interface management and change control, whilst providing strong commercial leadership to your project team.
- Support in the management of internal and external stakeholders, including framework supply chain partners from the ECI stage through construction stage, delivering to programme and budget
- Provide guidance and demonstrate our core values as well as manage teams, ensuring these are highly capable, well-motivated, and organised to deliver consistent excellence.
You have
- Prior experience delivering large-scale multi-disciplinary projects in a delivery role, typically on packages in excess of £50m+. Experience in the delivery of AC substations is preferred but not essential
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other key relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and an strong understanding of project management systems and governance for the execution of large projects.
- Contractual management experience (NEC3 experience is preferable), with the ability to forecast and control costs as well as develop and manage integrated project programmes.#
- An engineering, construction, or project management qualification / degree or equivalent experience
