Flint Subsea is a UK-based engineering company specialising in the supply of high-pressure Emergency Quick Disconnect (EQD) systems and associated subsea equipment for the offshore Oil & Gas Industry. Our systems are used globally in demanding applications, where reliability, safety, quality and rapid response are critical. We are a small, practical and fast-moving business with a hands-on culture, preparing complex subsea equipment for international projects, supporting rental equipment, maintaining accurate quality records, and responding quickly to client requirements.
We are looking for a practical, reliable and detail-oriented Workshop Assembly Technician to join our team. The role is primarily a precision assembly role involving hands-on workshop assembly, inspection, pressure testing, maintenance, preparation and packing of Flint Subsea EQD systems and associated equipment. The successful candidate will work from engineering drawings, job cards, procedures and test documents to ensure equipment is built, tested and documented correctly before being supplied to clients worldwide. The role is primarily workshop-based in Ellesmere Port, but may also involve travel to client facilities in the UK and overseas to support servicing, inspection, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting.
Duties
- Assemble EQD systems, sub-assemblies and associated equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, job cards, work instructions and company procedures.
- Carry out inspection, preparation, cleaning, fitting and mechanical assembly tasks to the required standard.
- Perform pressure testing and functional testing of equipment in accordance with approved procedures and safety requirements.
- Record test results, inspection findings and assembly information accurately on the relevant documentation.
- Log assembly, inspection, testing, servicing and rental equipment records accurately in the company IT system.
- Follow torque requirements, fitting procedures, sealing arrangements and build instructions carefully.
- Support the preparation, mobilisation and return inspection of rental EQD equipment.
- Assist with goods receipt, checking delivered parts against purchase orders, drawings and inspection requirements.
- Pick, kit and prepare parts, seals, fasteners and components for assembly and testing activities.
- Pack equipment, spares and tooling securely for dispatch to clients and project sites worldwide.
- Ensure workshop tools, lifting equipment and calibrated equipment are used safely and remain suitable for use.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards and help ensure the workshop remains clean, safe, organised and efficient.
- Report defects, non-conformances, missing parts, damaged components or safety concerns promptly.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, logistics and management personnel to support project delivery.
- Attend client facilities in the UK and overseas to support equipment servicing, inspection, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting when required, sometimes at short notice.
- Follow company business management, quality and HSE procedures at all times.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Practical mechanical experience in a workshop, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance or similar hands-on environment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, assembly instructions and written procedures.
- Good mechanical aptitude and confidence using hand tools, workshop equipment and measuring equipment.
- High attention to detail and willingness to follow procedures accurately.
- Ability to complete paperwork and log records clearly, accurately and correctly in the company IT system.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing tasks independently once trained.
- Positive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
- Commitment to safe working practices.
- Basic computer skills for completing records, checking stock and using business systems.
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Time-served apprenticeship or recognised mechanical/engineering trade background preferred, but not essential.
- Experience assembling or maintaining pressure equipment, hydraulic equipment, subsea equipment, valves, connectors, tooling or mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with hydrostatic pressure testing or factory acceptance testing.
- Understanding of sealing systems, bolted joints and mechanical fitting practices.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 or quality-controlled engineering environment.
- Forklift, lifting, slinging, crane or manual handling training.
Pay: £25,420.00-£42,799.88 per year
