What You’ll Be Doing
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Group Reporting Accountant to join our Finance team at Leeds United.
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant to play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across the Club's group of companies. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic sporting environment, you will support strategic decision-making through high-quality financial reporting, statutory compliance, financial analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will work closely with finance colleagues across football, commercial, retail, stadium, academy, and community operations to ensure financial information is delivered to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Financial Reporting
Lead the monthly consolidation of financial results across all group entities.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packs.
Ensure financial reporting is compliant with FRS 102 and applicable accounting standards.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
Reconcile intercompany balances, loans, and transactions across the Group.
Statutory & Regulatory Reporting
Prepare statutory accounts for Group entities.
Manage and coordinate year-end reporting processes.
Act as a key contact for external auditors.
Produce tax reporting packs and supporting schedules.
Prepare regulatory submissions for the Premier League, FA, UEFA (where applicable), and Companies House.
Ensure ongoing compliance with reporting obligations and governance requirements.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
Deliver financial analysis and performance commentary.
Identify key risks, opportunities, and financial trends.
Support Board reporting and presentation preparation.
Contribute to financial modelling and strategic projects.
Controls & Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting processes and controls.
Drive efficiencies in reporting timelines and data accuracy.
Support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.
Maintain robust financial controls across reporting activities.
Stakeholder Management
Build strong working relationships across all business areas.
Provide technical accounting support and guidance where required.
Collaborate with operational and commercial departments to ensure reporting requirements are met.
Support senior finance leadership with key business initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll have:
ACA or ACCA qualification.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including FRS 102.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Experience
Experience producing consolidated group financial statements within a multi-entity environment.
Experience preparing statutory accounts.
Experience managing year-end audit processes.
Experience delivering financial reporting to senior stakeholders.
Experience budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Experience improving reporting processes, controls, or financial systems.
Experience working within a complex commercial environment.
Desirable
Experience within professional sport, football, media, or entertainment.
Knowledge of Premier League and UEFA financial reporting requirements.
Experience using ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
Experience supporting finance transformation projects.
Understanding of football finance, including player registrations, transfer accounting, and academy structures.
