The Plough Inn is a thriving gastro pub with six beautifully appointed guest suites, set in the heart of the Kent countryside. As we continue to grow and develop our business, we are looking for an experienced, passionate, and driven Bar & Restaurant Manager to join our team.

The Role
As Front of House Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation and ongoing success of The Plough Inn. Working closely with the Owners and Head Chef, you will lead, motivate, and develop the front-of-house team while ensuring the highest standards of service are consistently delivered.
You will also support recruitment, drive sales growth through innovative ideas and events, and contribute to the overall commercial performance of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and develop the front-of-house team to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Recruit, train, and retain talented team members.
- Drive revenue growth through proactive sales initiatives, events, and local engagement.
- Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and Owners to ensure seamless operations.
- Maintain and continually improve operational standards across the business.
- Monitor and manage key business metrics, including gross profit, labour costs, and P&L performance.
- Foster strong relationships within the local community to enhance the pub’s reputation and trade.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Support marketing activities, including social media engagement and promotional campaigns.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a hospitality management role, preferably within a pub, restaurant, or gastro pub environment.
- Customer-focused with a genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences.
- Strong leadership skills with experience motivating, developing, and retaining high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive sense of humour.
- Self-motivated, organised, and confident in making commercial decisions.
- Strong understanding of business performance, including GP, labour management, and P&L accountability.
- Commercially aware, with an interest in industry trends and opportunities for growth.
- Passionate about quality food, drink, and hospitality.
- High standards with a proactive and hands-on approach.
- Competent IT skills, including spreadsheets and social media platforms.
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
Additional Information
Due to our beautiful rural location, own transport is essential.
Location Requirement
Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Stalisfield, ME13, or be willing to relocate prior to commencing employment.
Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
