Job Advert Description
Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) invites applications for the position of Regional Communications Officer.
This role involves supporting the delivery of the Tarian ROCU Communications Strategy through the creation and delivery of engaging internal and digital communications. The postholder will develop communication materials and campaigns for a range of audiences, helping to raise awareness of organised crime threats, prevention activity and the vital work of the ROCU. Working closely with officers and staff across the organisation, the role will provide communications advice and support, promote clear and consistent messaging, and contribute to the delivery of a professional and coordinated communications service across the region.
The successful candidate will take ownership of creating compelling content across multiple platforms, including written, visual and digital channels. They will be responsible for producing high-quality communication products, capturing and editing photographs and video content, supporting campaigns and organisational priorities, and ensuring communications are delivered in line with agreed objectives. The postholder will also work with colleagues at all levels to identify opportunities to promote operational successes, crime prevention messaging and public engagement activity.
We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate the ability to produce clear, accurate and engaging content, with excellent copywriting, proofreading and editing skills. Applicants should have experience working in a communications or public relations environment and possess a sound understanding of media law and communication principles. The successful candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and able to create professional visual content using Canva, Adobe Express or similar platforms.
You will be a creative and proactive communications professional with strong organisational skills, capable of managing competing priorities and building effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience of capturing and editing photography and video content is highly desirable.
A degree in a relevant subject is required. A professional qualification or training in communications or public relations, experience within the public sector, and completion of the Association of Police Communicators (APComm) Strategic Police Communicators course would be advantageous.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in communicating the work of Tarian ROCU, helping to protect communities across southern Wales from serious and organised crime.
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
