Futon Company is a well-known high street brand specialising in innovative, space-saving furniture, inspiring textiles, and stylish accessories. Almost everything we sell is designed in-house or by designers we know, and all our futon mattresses are handcrafted in our London workshop. As experts in small-space living, we have 23 stores across the UK, along with a thriving online business.
We are looking for an exceptional full-time Store Manager to provide excellent customer service in our soon to open BRAND NEW store in Reading!
Role and Responsibilities
- Be highly sales-driven and commercially aware, consistently seeking opportunities to increase revenue and improve store performance.
- Lead a customer-focused team to maximise sales, exceed targets, and deliver outstanding service.
- Be a hands-on leader, working alongside the team to inspire and motivate, leading by example in all aspects of store operations.
- Manage stock effectively, ensuring the right products are available at the right time, and commercially merchandised.
- Use sales data and insights to drive commercial success and optimise store performance.
- Ensure the customer experience is seamless, keeping them at the heart of all store operations.
- Handle customer complaints efficiently and professionally to maintain high service standards.
- Recruit and develop a high-performing team, coaching and training them to excel in sales and service.
- Maintain a positive, can-do mindset, ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently, even in challenging situations.
- Ensure all policies, promotions, and procedures are carried out accurately and on time.
- Maintain high visual merchandising standards, working closely with the Visual Merchandising team.
- Work a varied schedule, including weekends.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with customers and colleagues across the business.
- 2-4 years of management and sales experience in a customer service-driven role.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business performance.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
- A hands-on approach, with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of store life.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, always looking for ways to improve and solve problems.
- Strong organisational and planning abilities to ensure smooth store operations.
- Keen commercial awareness, with the ability to analyse sales trends and respond effectively.
- Experience in stock management, ensuring optimal levels and reducing shrinkage.
- Strong visual merchandising skills, with an eye for creating an engaging store environment.
- IT competency to manage systems and reporting effectively.
