Job Introduction
Senior Therapeutic Adult Support Worker – Nottingham Solo Placement (Male Applicants)
At Elevate Supported Living, we believe in transformational, person-centred support that empowers individuals to live meaningful and independent lives.
If you are passionate about making a genuine difference, committed to learning and growth, and aligned with our values of Integrity, Inclusion, Accountability, Innovation, and Service User Focus, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We are building a small, consistent core team to support one individual in a solo supported living placement in Nottingham, providing 2:1 support for 15 hours a day plus a waking night. We are looking for experienced, caring, values-driven Senior Therapeutic Adult Support Workers — whether you bring extensive frontline experience or a strong background in therapeutic and complex needs support, we want to hear from you.
Essential Requirement — Occupational Requirement
Due to the personal care needs and expressed wishes of the person we support, this role can only be fulfilled by male applicants. This is applied as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, identified through the individual's assessment — it is not a general preference. It applies to all shifts on this placement, including waking nights.
About Elevate Supported Living
Elevate provides standard and enhanced therapeutic & trauma-informed supported living services for adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and complex needs.
Our approach is built on:
-
Service User Focus – placing the individual at the centre of everything we do
-
Inclusion – creating environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered
-
Integrity – acting with honesty, transparency, and professionalism
-
Accountability – taking ownership of our actions and delivering consistently high standards of care
-
Innovation – using creative and therapeutic approaches to improve outcomes
We support individuals not just in their day-to-day lives, but in building confidence, independence, and future opportunities through access to education, training, employment, and social enterprise pathways.
The Role
As a Senior Therapeutic Adult Support Worker on this placement, you will:
-
Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs
-
Ensure the physical, emotional, religious, educational, and psychological needs of the person we support are met within a safe and supportive environment
-
Lead on the formulation, implementation, and review of care plans
-
Promote independence by working alongside the individual on daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, and household routines — coaching rather than doing tasks for him
-
Build a genuine, trusting rapport, including being physically active alongside him (walking, jogging, football, community outings)
-
Support him to stay calm and regulated when anxious or overwhelmed, de-escalating without confrontation and picking up on early signs of rising anxiety
-
Support the individual to maintain a safe, stable tenancy and positive home environment
-
Work collaboratively with the individual, family, and multi-agency partners, including statutory and voluntary sector professionals
-
Enable access to education, employment, and community opportunities
-
Maintain accurate, high-quality records in line with regulatory and organisational standards
-
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating professionalism, consistency, and emotional resilience
We're looking for a mix of complementary strengths across the team — some team members naturally excel at building fast, easy rapport; others are the calm, steady presence who helps de-escalate and think things through; others are hands-on and practical. You don't need to be all three, but we'll ask where your strengths lie.
Shift Pattern
-
Full-time, 40 hours per week (5 out of 7 days, including weekends)
-
Shifts are not on a rotating pattern and cover the following hours:
-
08:00 – 16:00
-
10:00 – 20:00
-
12:00 – 20:00
-
08:00 – 20:00
-
A waking night shift is also part of the rota for this placement
-
This placement does not use agency staff — we're looking for people committed to a long-term, stable role with this individual
Flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the individual we support.
About You
You will:
-
Have a minimum of 12 months' recent experience working directly with adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, or complex needs
-
Have direct experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD); experience with ADHD is also valued, and Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder experience is a plus (though not essential)
-
Have experience in trauma-informed practice, or supporting people with attachment difficulties or disrupted childhoods
-
Hold Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training, or demonstrate a clear proactive, non-restrictive mindset even without formal training
-
Have experience de-escalating anxiety or distress calmly and without confrontation
-
Be comfortable and competent with LGBTQ+ inclusive practice
-
Be physically active and willing/able to accompany the individual on long walks, jogging, and community outings
-
Be calm, patient, and genuinely emotionally resilient — not just in interview
-
Be comfortable with consistency and routine; this isn't suited to someone who thrives on variety or spontaneity in their own working style
-
Be non-confrontational by nature, with no instinct towards power struggles or raised-voice management of behaviour
-
Be reflective — comfortable reviewing your own practice and learning from incidents rather than becoming defensive
-
Communicate effectively with the individual, family, and a range of statutory and voluntary sector professionals
-
Be adaptable, reliable, and committed to continuous learning and development
