Aldous Systems is a specialist supplier of professional AV and smart-building technology. We design and supply IT, video distribution, audio distribution, home automation, speakers, amplifiers, CCTV and IP intercom systems. Our industry has gone almost entirely IP-based, so a strong IT foundation sits at the heart of everything we do.
We're a small, knowledgeable team where you'll quickly become a trusted point of contact for our customers and learn a broad, genuinely interesting range of technology.
The Role
This is a varied, customer-facing technical role, ideal for a recent graduate who enjoys solving problems and talking to people. Day to day you'll be the first voice customers hear when they call, helping them choose the right products, place orders and get the most out of what they've bought.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Answering incoming calls and responding to customer enquiries
- Taking and processing sales orders
- Providing pre-sales advice and product recommendations
- Delivering technical support across our full product range
- Troubleshooting IP-based and networked systems
- Building product knowledge across IT, video and audio distribution, home automation, speakers, amplifiers, CCTV and IP intercom
We'll give you the training and product knowledge you need — what matters most is the right attitude, a solid technical base and a willingness to learn.
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Computer Science, IT or a related technical subject
- A strong IT background with a solid grasp of networking concepts — IP addressing, switches, routers and VLANs (everything in our industry is IP-based)
- Excellent communication skills — confident, clear and friendly on the phone
- Genuine interest in technology and a problem-solving mindset
- Well organised, reliable and happy working as part of a small team
- Comfortable with an office-based role in Aylesbury
Nice to Have
- Some audio/video (AV) capability or interest — distribution, speakers, amplifiers
- Any hands-on experience with CCTV, home automation, KNX or related systems
- Previous customer service, sales or support experience
