We are looking for two experienced, resilient and nurturing Teaching Assistants to join our team, supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs to access learning, build independence and strengthen wellbeing.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, and who can use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques consistently. Outdoor learning, PE, or enrichment experience is highly desirable.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEND and SEMH needs and behaviour that can challenge
- Confidence using de-escalation, consistent boundaries, and trauma-informed/relational approaches
- A calm, patient and dependable presence who can build trust and routines
- Ability to follow teacher direction and contribute proactively to pupil progress
- Commitment to safeguarding and professional conduct
Desirable:
- Experience with outdoor learning, PE, physical activity or enrichment delivery
- Familiarity with reintegration support and/or EHCP target-led interventions
- Support pupils to access learning through differentiated approaches, structured routines, visual supports and communication strategies
Key responsibilities
- Provide in-class support using routines, differentiation, visuals and communication strategies
- Deliver targeted 1:1 (where applicable) and small-group interventions linked to EHCP targets
- Support behaviour through positive strategies and de-escalation, following individual support plans
- Promote independence, literacy/reading, social skills and wellbeing (including during unstructured times)
- Prepare adapted resources and maintain learning journals/PLODs and pupil records
- Work closely with teachers, SLT and external professionals; contribute to reporting as required
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, health & safety and all school policies at all times
