Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and production, with a keen understanding of food safety standards. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality dishes are prepared and served efficiently. This position requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. You must of worked in a frsh food pub enviroment before and be able to spec and cost dishes, as well as ensure good allergen controls.
Ideal candidate to of had 2 years minimum at CDP or sous in busy pub kitchen, or similar, and be able to liase with suppliers, manage a team and must be reliable.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
- menu planning, including creating new dishes and liasing with suppliers to get the best local produce.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Monitor food production processes to maintain quality control and consistency across all dishes, including allergen controls.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CDP/sous or in a similar culinary role within a pub/restaurant environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent culinary skills with a passion for food production and preparation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Industry qualification's preferred but not essential, first aid, food safety etc
