Job Purpose
The Mechanical Installation Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all mechanical installation activities on site, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, on schedule, and within budget. The role involves leading installation teams, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring quality standards, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Supervise the installation of mechanical systems and equipment in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Coordinate daily activities of mechanical installers, pipefitters, welders, and subcontractors.
- Monitor installation progress and ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Identify and resolve installation issues and technical challenges on site.
- Ensure materials, equipment, and tools are available to support project schedules.
- Coordinate with other trades to ensure efficient project execution and minimize delays.
- Assist in planning work sequences and manpower allocation.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all installations meet project requirements, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Perform inspections and verify workmanship quality throughout installation activities.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Ensure all punch list items and deficiencies are completed within agreed timeframes.
- Maintain accurate records of installation progress and completed works.
Health, Safety & Environment
- Promote a strong safety culture across all site activities.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies, site procedures, and legal requirements.
- Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections, and safety briefings.
- Ensure risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems are followed.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions where required.
- Always ensure appropriate use of PPE and safe working practices.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and supervise mechanical installation personnel.
- Monitor workforce productivity and performance.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to installation teams.
- Ensure personnel are trained and competent for assigned tasks.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and evaluate performance.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain records of labour hours, productivity, site issues, and completed work.
- Report project risks, delays, and resource requirements to management.
- Assist in preparing installation schedules and project updates.
- Qualifications
- HNC/HND, Diploma, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Mechanical trade qualification preferred.
- SMSTS, SSSTS, or equivalent site supervision certification desirable.
- CSCS card or equivalent site competency certification.
- Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical installation, construction, or industrial projects.
- Previous supervisory experience managing installation teams.
Experience with mechanical systems such as:
- HVAC systems
- Pipework installations
- Pumps and pumping systems
- Compressed air systems
- Process plant equipment
- Mechanical services installations
- Industrial machinery and equipment

- Excellent understanding of mechanical installation methods and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project reporting tools.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards.
Pay: £250.00-£300.00 per day
