Buttons & Bows Day Nursery is looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated Deputy Care Manager to join our leadership team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with proven management experience and a strong understanding of Flying Start to play a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy nursery and after-school provision. Working alongside the Care Managers, you will help lead a dedicated team, maintain high standards of care and education, and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
We are looking for someone who leads by example, is organised, approachable and committed to delivering outstanding childcare.
Hours of Work
This is a term-time only position.
Working hours will be scheduled Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 6:00pm, depending on the needs of the business. Flexibility is essential, as contracted working days may vary.
The successful candidate will also be required to work up to 10 Call to Duty days during the school holidays to support nursery operations, training and business needs.
Buttons & Bows Day Nursery is closed for four weeks each year:
- Two weeks at Christmas
- One week during the Easter holidays
- One week during the Summer holidays
About the Role
As Deputy Care Manager you will:
- Support the day-to-day management of the nursery and deputise for the Care Managers in their absence.
- Lead, motivate and support staff to deliver high-quality childcare and education.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and nurturing environment for children, families and staff.
- Support staff through inductions, supervisions, mentoring and ongoing development.
- Ensure compliance with CIW regulations, safeguarding requirements and nursery policies.
- Support observation, assessment and planning across the nursery.
- Build positive relationships with parents, schools and other professionals.
- Assist with staffing, rotas, recruitment and maintaining high standards throughout the setting.
- Help drive continuous improvement and maintain the excellent reputation of Buttons & Bows Day Nursery.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare (Level 5 desirable).
- Have previous management or leadership experience within an early years setting.
- Have experience working within a Flying Start setting and a good understanding of Flying Start requirements.
- Have excellent knowledge of safeguarding, CIW regulations and the Curriculum for Wales.
- Be confident leading and supporting a team.
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Be passionate about providing outstanding care and supporting children to reach their full potential.
