About the Role
We are an accountancy practice looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has experience working within an accounting practice and wants to continue developing their career in a professional and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will work with a varied portfolio of clients, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, and will assist with accounts preparation, tax compliance and other client work.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing working papers and supporting schedules
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
- Assisting with personal tax returns
- Preparing VAT returns and completing bookkeeping and account reconciliations where required
- Reviewing client records and identifying missing information
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
- Using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and other cloud-based systems
- Assisting senior accountants and managers with client assignments
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience working within a UK accounting practice
- Fully AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified
- Practical experience preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders and/or partnerships
- Good understanding of bookkeeping, VAT and taxation
- Experience using accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence communicating professionally with clients
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload and work effectively as part of a team
Please note: Experience working within an accounting practice is essential. Candidates whose experience is solely within an industry or in-house accounts department may not be suitable for this position.

Pay: £25,420.00-£40,716.12 per year
