Wall-lag is a family owned and operated business which has been in operation since 1974, based in Mold, North Wales. Originally providing insulation, the company expanded into manufacturing and installing double glazed doors, windows and conservatories then in 2008 it diversified into renewable technology and Heating installations. In recent years the renewable activity has increased significantly installing Air Source Heat pumps, Solar PV and EV charging stations.
The company has a number of contracts with local housing associations and utility providers to support them in delivering their renewable energy strategies.
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a knowledgeable and motivated Renewables Surveyor & QC to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who understands that great installations start with accurate surveys and end with high-quality, compliant delivery.
If you’ve got experience with ECO4, ORP, or similar funding streams, and you care about doing things properly, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out pre-installation surveys for renewable measures (e.g. ASHPs, insulation, solar, ventilation)
- Ensuring all designs align with PAS 2035 / funding requirements (ECO4, ORP, etc.)
- Producing clear and accurate survey reports and installation specifications
- Conducting post-installation quality inspections (QC checks)
- Identifying and rectifying any non-compliance or quality issues
- Working closely with Retrofit Coordinators, installers, and office teams
- Ensuring all work meets required technical, safety, and funding compliance standards
- Supporting continuous improvement across installations and processes
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in renewables surveying and/or QC
- Strong working knowledge of ECO4, ORP, or similar funding schemes (essential)
- Solid understanding of PAS 2035 / retrofit standards
- Technical knowledge across one or more measures (e.g. heat pumps, insulation, solar PV)
- A detail-focused mindset with high standards for compliance and quality
- Good communication skills — able to liaise with technical teams and customers
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant certifications or background in retrofit / construction / energy efficiency
