Shofar Daycare Nursery are looking for a new Childcare Apprentice. You will be studying toward your Early Years Educator apprenticeship L3.
As an Early Years Educator Apprentice, you will join a friendly and supportive nursery team, working alongside experienced Early Years Practitioners, nursery staff and the Nursery Director to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children.
Shofar Daycare Nursery is affiliated to Finchley Reform Synagogue, Alyth Synagogue and the Movement for Reform Judaism and is based at the Sternberg Centre in Finchley.
As the successful candidate, you will assist the Nursery team in providing outstanding quality childcare, infused with Reform Jewish values. You will work in conjunction with a team of staff, ensuring that together you provide the highest standards of safety, care and education for the children in your care.
As an apprentice, your responsibilities will develop as your knowledge and confidence increase. You will be supported by experienced members of the team while learning to:
- Support the delivery of engaging activities that reflect children's individual interests, needs and stages of development.
- Help create an environment where children can play, learn and develop.
- Build positive and professional relationships with children and their families.
- Support the nursery's key person system and take responsibility for a group of children as your skills develop.
- Observe children's development and contribute to records and learning journals.
- Contribute to progress checks and other developmental assessments in line with the EYFS.
- Share relevant information with parents and carers appropriately and professionally.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support children's learning and wellbeing.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Follow health, safety, hygiene and confidentiality procedures.
- Support children during mealtimes and everyday nursery routines.
- Help maintain a clean, safe and well-organised nursery environment.
- Support children who may become unwell and report concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
- Ensure children are collected by authorised individuals in accordance with nursery procedures.
- Participate in training, staff meetings, parent events and other appropriate nursery activities.
- Support the wider nursery team with reasonable duties that contribute to the smooth running of the setting.
- Respect and contribute to the nursery's ethos, values and approach to childcare.
- Where appropriate, support activities and experiences connected to the nursery's Jewish faith and culture.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle information about children and families appropriately.
Pay: £26,936.00 per year
