Position: Chef (Head Chef / Senior Chef)
Location: The Fox at Ryton, Shropshire
Salary: £30,000 – £34,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Wednesday to Sunday
Reports to: General Manager
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team at The Fox at Ryton – a charming 17th-century pub in the heart of the Shropshire countryside. After a full refurbishment and under new management, we reopened in December and are now building something really special.
This is a fantastic chance to shape our food offering from the start and help establish The Fox as a go-to destination for great seasonal, modern British food.
What You’ll Be Doing
● Create exciting seasonal menus that celebrate local Shropshire produce and modern British cuisine
● Lead the kitchen day-to-day, including stock control, supplier relationships, and supervising the team
● Maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality
● Deliver consistently excellent food for our 50 indoor covers and outdoor seating area
● Help control costs while keeping quality and creativity high
What We’re Looking For
● Proven experience as a Chef in quality food-led pubs or restaurants
● Strong menu development skills and a passion for local, seasonal ingredients
● Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
● A great mix of creative flair and commercial awareness
● Ability to thrive in a busy kitchen and work well under pressure
● Someone who shares our love of great food and community spirit
