About Koru Acoustics
Koru Acoustics is a growing acoustic treatment company based near Reading. We survey, design, supply and install acoustic solutions for offices, schools, restaurants, community buildings and other commercial spaces across the UK.
We are looking for an experienced installer who is ready to take on more responsibility, helping to manage installations on site while continuing to work practically as part of the team.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position combining installation work with site and project management responsibilities.
You will drive the company van to sites, oversee and support other installers, interpret drawings and layouts, and help ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
The role will suit a skilled installer who is confident making practical decisions on site and answering questions from other members of the installation team.
Typical working days will vary depending on our project schedule. We expect to offer approximately two to three days of work per week, although some weeks may be busier or quieter. Flexibility is therefore important.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving the company van from the Reading area to project sites
- Installing acoustic ceiling rafts, wall panels and related acoustic products
- Leading and supporting small installation teams on site
- Reading and working from drawings, layouts and installation information
- Answering technical and practical questions from installers
- Planning the sequence of work and allocating tasks
- Checking dimensions, fixing locations and site conditions
- Identifying and resolving practical installation issues
- Liaising professionally with clients, site contacts and other trades
- Ensuring work is completed safely, neatly and to the required standard
- Looking after tools, equipment, materials and the company vehicle
- Providing updates on progress, changes or issues arising on site
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience in construction, installation or interior fit-out work.
Experience in some of the following areas would be particularly useful:
- Ceiling fixings and suspended ceiling systems
- Wall panelling
- Drylining and plasterboard construction
- Joinery or carpentry
- Interior fit-out
- Commercial installation work
- Working from drawings and setting-out information
- Supervising or supporting other installers
Specific acoustic installation experience is not essential, as product training will be provided.
What We Are Looking For
- A skilled and practical installer who is ready to step into a supervisory role
- Confident reading drawings and understanding fixing details
- Able to solve problems and make sensible decisions on site
- Comfortable managing and supporting a small installation team
- Reliable, organised and professional
- Good attention to detail
- Able to communicate clearly with clients and colleagues
- Flexible regarding working days and occasional early starts
- Based in or close to Reading
- Physically able to carry out practical installation work
- Full UK driving licence
A CSCS card, IPAF qualification and relevant health and safety training would be beneficial but are not essential.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time position offering approximately two to three days of work per week. The exact days will vary depending on project requirements, so the role is best suited to someone who can offer a reasonable level of flexibility.
Most journeys will begin from the Reading area. Projects are located across the UK, although much of our work is in London and the South of England. Some early starts and occasional overnight stays may be required.
What We Offer
- Flexible part-time working
- Varied projects and working environments
- The opportunity to develop from an installer into a project management role
- Training in acoustic products and installation methods
- Company van and installation equipment provided for work purposes
- The opportunity to join a growing specialist company and take on greater responsibility over time
