Engineering Coordinator
Overview:
We are seeking a proactive, organised and detail-oriented Engineering Coordinator to join our Engineering team.
This role is responsible for coordinating engineering work requests, supporting maintenance planning, managing engineering stores and spare parts, coordinating procurement activities, and ensuring maintenance teams have the materials, services and information required to minimise equipment downtime. The Engineering Coordinator acts as the key link between Engineering, Procurement, Stores and external suppliers, helping to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with production requirements.
This position would suit someone with previous experience in an engineering, maintenance or manufacturing environment who has excellent organisational skills, enjoys coordinating multiple activities and has a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Duties:
- Coordinate engineering work requests and support maintenance planning activities.
- Manage engineering spare parts, consumables and inventory to ensure availability for planned and reactive maintenance.
- Raise purchase requisitions and purchase orders for engineering materials, spare parts and external services.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations, delivery schedules and technical information.
- Monitor supplier performance and expedite urgent deliveries where required.
- Maintain accurate records of engineering stock, inventory movements and procurement activity using CMMS/ERP systems.
- Develop and maintain critical spare parts registers and ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.
- Conduct regular stock audits and identify obsolete or slow-moving inventory.
- Oversee the organisation, housekeeping and continuous improvement of engineering stores.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production and Planning teams to ensure materials and resources are available for maintenance activities, shutdowns and projects.
- Generate reports and KPIs relating to stock accuracy, procurement performance and spare parts availability.
- Support engineering administration, budget monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company health, safety, environmental and quality procedures.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience within an engineering, maintenance, manufacturing or industrial environment is essential.
- Experience managing engineering stores, spare parts or inventory systems is highly desirable.
- HNC/HND in Engineering, Maintenance or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Good knowledge of engineering components, including mechanical and electrical spare parts.
- Experience using CMMS, ERP or stock management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments and with external suppliers.
- Analytical and problem-solving approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Professional, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Working Environment:
- Full-time position based in Forfar, Scotland.
- Office-based role with regular interaction across Engineering, Production, Procurement and Stores.
- Frequent use of CMMS, ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Regular visits to engineering stores and manufacturing areas.
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities.
