About the Role
We are seeking an organised and proactive HR & Compliance Officer to join a High School on a full-time ongoing contract.
Working closely with the HR Lead and School Business Manager (SBM), you will provide operational HR support across the school's sites, ensuring employee records are accurately maintained and HR processes are administered efficiently. You will also take responsibility for Health & Safety compliance, audits and regulatory checks, supporting the school in maintaining a safe and compliant environment for staff, students and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR Administrator, HR Officer or Compliance professional with experience working within education, public sector or similar regulated environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesHR Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in line with GDPR and school policies.
- Support the administration of recruitment, onboarding and pre-employment checks.
- Process employment changes including starters, leavers, contract amendments and absence records.
- Maintain the Single Central Record and personnel files.
- Produce HR reports and workforce data as required.
- Support the HR Lead with compliance monitoring and audit requirements.
- Assist with HR correspondence, documentation and record management.
- Ensure all HR records are maintained in accordance with statutory and school requirements.
Compliance, Health & Safety and Audit
- Lead on the administration and coordination of Health & Safety processes across the school sites.
- Complete regular compliance checks, inspections and audits.
- Maintain Health & Safety records, risk assessments and associated documentation.
- Monitor statutory compliance requirements and ensure actions are completed within required timescales.
- Support external and internal audits.
- Track and monitor compliance actions and follow up on outstanding items.
- Work closely with the School Business Manager and Site Team to ensure compliance standards are maintained.
- Assist in developing and implementing safe working practices across the school.
General
- Provide administrative support to the wider school leadership team when required.
- Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion policies.
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
Person SpecificationEssential
- Previous experience within HR Administration, HR Officer, Compliance or School Administration roles.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience maintaining confidential records and information.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
Desirable
- Previous experience working within a school, academy or education setting.
- Experience maintaining a Single Central Record.
- Health & Safety administration experience.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
- Knowledge of safeguarding requirements within education.
Pay: £130.00-£180.00 per day
