About the Role
We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Workshop Operative to join our busy steel fabrication team. This is a hands-on role preparing steel components for the manufacture of high-quality cattle grids. Working in a fast-paced workshop alongside five experienced fabricators, you'll play a key role in ensuring materials are accurately prepared and production runs smoothly.
This position would suit someone with experience in a workshop, steel fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing environment who enjoys practical work and takes pride in accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and cut steel beams, box sections and flat steel to precise specifications.
- Prepare materials ready for fabrication, working to cutting lists at first and in time learning to work from the production sheets.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy, with cuts completed to the millimetre.
- Prepare and load galvanising deliveries each Thursday.
- Carry out general workshop duties including housekeeping and daily machine maintenance.
- Support the fabrication team to ensure production targets are met - Being able to cover holidays on the welding would be ideal but isn't essential
About You:
- Can work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
- Is confident reading measurements and working to precise tolerances.
- Is comfortable operating, or willing to be trained on, a 4-tonne forklift.
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Is reliable, committed and looking for a long-term career.
