We are looking for dedicated, resilient and compassionate Support Workers to join a specialist team supporting a young adult with complex needs in a supported living environment.
This is a highly rewarding but intensive role, requiring staff who are confident working within Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) frameworks, and who can provide consistent, person-centred care.
The individual you will support has:
- Autism, ADHD and Moderate Intellectual Disability
- Bipolar affective disorder
- Communication needs (non-verbal, uses visual tools and Makaton)
- Behaviours that may challenge, often linked to communication and sensory needs
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, person-centred care in line with care plans and risk assessments
- Support communication using visual aids, Makaton and assistive technology
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies to reduce distress and promote engagement
- Support with personal care, daily routines, and structured activities
- Safely support community access (4:1 staffing model)
- Monitor and record behaviours, mood, and health needs accurately
- Administer medication in line with MAR charts and policy
- Maintain a safe environment, following all risk management plans (including fire, medication, and safeguarding)
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in learning disabilities, autism, or complex care
- Understanding of PBS or behaviour support approaches
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work as part of a team
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Physically able to support an active individual (walking, community access)
- Commitment to dignity, safeguarding, and least restrictive practice
Essential:
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to complete training and competency assessments
Desirable:
- PBS training
- Experience with non-verbal communication methods
- Experience working in high staffing ratio packages
