Do you want to join one of the UK’s leading independent engine specialists?
Due to continued growth, The Engine Room is looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our team in Motherwell.
This is not a routine servicing and MOT position. We specialise in engine diagnostics, repairs, removal, replacement and rebuilding across a wide range of cars and light commercial vehicles.
We need someone who has strong mechanical knowledge, can work confidently without constant supervision and is comfortable taking responsibility for the job in front of them.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and engine-related faults
- Removing and refitting engines across different makes and models
- Carrying out engine repairs and replacements
- Working on cars and light commercial vehicles
- Using modern diagnostic equipment and technical information
- Completing work accurately from job cards
- Reporting additional faults or required parts clearly
- Supporting the Workshop Supervisor when required
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area
Essential experience
You must have:
- At least five years’ experience working in a garage or workshop
- Proven experience removing and refitting engines
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Your own tools
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to work accurately with minimal supervision
- Good timekeeping and attendance
- A positive, practical and reliable approach to work
Experience with engine rebuilding, timing systems, cylinder-head work and light commercial vehicles would be an advantage.
