Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide exceptional care for dogs in an outdoor daycare environment, as well as in a home-boarding environment. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for dogs and the ability to observe them closely in order to monitor their health and behaviour.
This role involves not only caring for pets but also maintaining a positive relationship with pet owners through excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interact with the dogs to provide entertainment, exercise, comfort and enrichment opportunities.
- Minimise stress levels of all dogs where possible. This includes keeping incessant barking to a minimum and interupting any behaviours which cause stress to other dogs.
- Closely observe dogs at all times. Record observations on the relevant welfare sheets and where necessary, communicate any concerns with management and/or dog owners.
- Perform daily health checks on each dog.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of dogs during their stay.
- Maintain cleanliness in the indoor and outdoor areas.
- Feed and medicate the dogs when required.
- Ensure there is always fresh water available.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pet's behaviour and health during visits.
- Work cooperatively with other team members to ensure daily tasks are completed and dogs are content.
- Perform heavy lifting when required, such as moving pet supplies or assisting larger dogs.
- Walk multiple dogs at one time.
- Diffuse any negative interactions between dogs and separate dogs where required.
- Occasionally stay on site overnight in order to care for any boarding dogs.
Requirements
- Previous experience in animal settings is desirable but not essential.
- Strong customer service skills to foster positive relationships with dog owners.
- Ability to handle various types of dogs, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting tasks as needed.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of pet owners, including nights, weekends or holidays.
