Job Summary
We are currently seeking to appoint committed compassionate support workers to work with children in a residential setting. The children are always at the centre of what we do, and we are looking for dedicated residential support workers to provide high quality care to these children and help improve their resilience and self-esteem while creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. The care you provide will be pivotal to the children's development and we are committed to safeguarding the children and providing attentive and compassionate care. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young lives while developing professional skills in childcare and support work.
Responsibilities
This role entails (but is not limited to):
- Supporting the children’s daily routines including promoting good hygiene, diet and exercise routines as well as promoting school attendance and completion of homework.
- Implement and follow individualised care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Supporting the children’s emotional wellbeing in line with their risk assessments and care plans.
- Supporting the children to maintain cleanliness of their rooms and support with cleaning if required.
- Attending appointments such as medical appointments and appointments with other professionals.
- Support children with personal care when necessary.
- Supporting children to set and achieve targets for independence.
- Supporting plans on activity planners.
- Completing daily paperwork to a high standard.
- Completing handover tasks/documents to a high standard.
- Day to day tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning and laundry duties.
- Completion of specific checks such as fire check/medication counts/COSHH.
- Build and maintain a positive working relationship with other professionals.
- Safeguarding the children.
- Supporting the active involvement of children.
- Ability to use own initiative.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards for Children’s Homes, Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, and Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.
- Ensure equality and diversity is incorporated into the culture of the home while also ensuring teamwork meets the needs of children from diverse backgrounds under the legislation, policy, and best practice standards.
- Ability to effectively engage, communicate and form positive relationships with children, parents/carers and professionals.
- Ability to yield clear and concise written reports and records of excellent standard.
- Ensure you can challenge individuals when necessary and ensure this is done in a calm and objective manner.
Requirements
Knowledge and experience:
Applicants must hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent. Other relevant qualifications would be accepted.
Experience working with children/young people who have emotional/behavioural difficulties/residential work/youth work would be advantageous.

Experience:
- Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
- Support Environment: 1 year (preferred)
- Knowledge of child development principles and child protection procedures is advantageous
- Competence in using IT systems for record keeping and communication purposes
- Good communication skills to build trusting relationships with children, families, and team members
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
