Background
Silverbox Kids is looking for enthusiastic and creative volunteers with a passion for Visual Arts and youth education to help deliver our interactive workshops for young people aged 8 - 16 years.
Our workshops provide a fun, safe, and inclusive space where students can explore and develop skills in:
Film-Making | Comic Book Creation | Animation | Photography | Acting for Camera | Sound & Music Design | Creative Writing
We run After School Clubs, Weekend Clubs, Holiday Schools, and curriculum-based school projects, helping young people build confidence, creativity, and collaboration skills.
The Role
As a volunteer, you will support the delivery of workshops, helping students with creative tasks, setting up materials, and ensuring a positive learning environment.
This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in creative education, youth work, or digital media.
An Enhanced DBS check and safeguarding training are required (provided by Silverbox).
Responsibilities
Workshop Support & Student Engagement:
Assist students with creative activities across various disciplines.
Encourage participation and help build student confidence.
Reinforce club rules and maintain a positive learning environment.
Build friendly, professional relationships with students.
Technical & Logistical Assistance:
Help set up and pack down workshop equipment and materials.
Support students in using tablets, software and other creative tools.
Safety & Reporting:
Understand and follow safeguarding policies and safety protocols.
Report any concerns about student welfare to the Workshop Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
Enthusiasm for Visual Arts, Digital Media or Creative Education.
Confidence and strong communication skills.
Punctuality, reliability and a positive attitude.
Desired:
Experience in Visual Arts, Digital Media, or Youth Engagement (not essential).
Experience working with young people (desirable but not required).
Hours & Commitment
- Various, based on active projects.
- Weekdays: Typically 2 hours between 3pm - 6pm.
- Flexible volunteer hours available.
