ABOUT THE ROLE
Join us in making a difference in the lives of those seeking freedom from domestic abuse. You will provide a crucial role in ensuring that the refuge is adhering to health and safety requirements with an understanding of the importance or providing safe, clean and welcoming accommodation for survivors and their children fleeing domestic abuse.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaise with contractors reporting issues, arranging visits, escorting around site.
- Keeping maintenance logs and records up to date
- Meet and greet visitors and contractors, checking their ID documents, signing them in, etc.
- Be responsible for the ordering of and setting up welcome packs
Be responsible for ensuring the accommodation is clean and up to a high standard for client arrivals
- Carry out maintenance and health & safety checks to ensure the safe keeping of the refuge and the building is compliant.
- Collecting post from the PO box, when required.
- The ability to lead and escalate where necessary any Health and safety issues included but not limited to property condition.
- To have an increased awareness of compliance issues for the accommodation and plan appropriately.
- Share responsibility with the staff team in raising awareness of the issues surrounding the needs of all survivors in refuges.
- Share responsibility in reporting any safeguarding concerns to the relevant safeguarding lead.
- To be responsible holding the On Call maintenance service. These duties are split between those participating in the rota. The rota will be published in advance, and you will be given reasonable notice of your scheduled out of hours coverage. Participation in the on-call service will be paid in line with the on-call policy.
- To cover across sites should this be needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To promote the aims and objectives of the organisation and ensure that all contacts with external people and organisations fully reflect the professional approach of I Choose Freedom.
- To comply with relevant legislation and I Choose Freedom policies, practices and codes of conduct as laid out in the I Choose Freedom documentation.
- To participate fully in the running of I Choose Freedom projects in conjunction with co-workers, volunteers, management and service users.
- To always act within these requirements ensuring that you work within a framework of safeguarding, equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
- To ensure the security and confidentiality of I Choose Freedom projects and the clients involved at all times.
- To attend relevant training and work towards qualifications as appropriate.
- To maintain whatever records are deemed necessary by the Management Team
- To take direction on projects and priorities from the Management Committee. This may vary from time to time.
- To be self-servicing and carry out data entry, filing and administrative tasks necessary to comply with the job description.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Management Team.
- Previous facilities coordination desired
- Excellent administrative skills
- Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills essential
- Attention to detail
- Exceptionally organised
- Ability to work under pressure and in crisis situations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Understanding of and commitment to upholding confidentiality

- Able to work on own initiative and be proactive
- Ability to set clear boundaries and maintain them
- Must have use of own car
- A full, clean and valid driving licence
This is an outline job description designed to give an overview of the responsibilities of the post. The post holder will be expected to be flexible to respond to change and organisational need given the organisation’s development and growth plans. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the wider organisational needs as appropriate, and this job description may be subject to review.
Pay: £25,291.50-£26,227.50 per year
