Job DescriptionThis is a Mechanical Quality Assurance Inspector role overseeing mechanical systems including heating, ventilation and cooling systems.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform inspections on a variety of complicated structures involving difficult and complex operations and maintenance activities which include sophisticated mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems and equipment. You will be responsible for performing inspection and surveillance of construction projects as well as other duties related to inspection of equipment and materials. You will perform duties as a technical consultant to the Operations Flight Director, DIO and Engineering Flight, conducting inventory and condition assessments for all sewer, water, and mechanical infrastructure systems and will gather information to compile into written inspection reports. In addition, you will comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures, and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
Qualifications and Key skills To qualify for the position, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience in a similar role (such as an Engineering Aid, Technician, Surveying Technician, Construction Inspector, Construction Representative, or supervisor of construction crafts-persons, equipment operators, or mechanics) or have a minimum of a Level 3 college education (such as a BTEC, City & Guilds, NVQ, or HNC/HND) combined with relevant specialized experience. Additionally, a valid UK Category B driver's license is required, while certifications in Anglian Water, high-pressure jetting, sewage plant operations, unvented hot water, or gas systems are highly desirable.
The successful candidate must possess a comprehensive understanding of construction inspection practices, safety procedures, and the engineering principles used to evaluate building materials, workmanship, utilities, and system installations. You must be able to read and interpret complex engineering and architectural plans to determine construction requirements, applying a solid working knowledge of structural, mechanical, and electrical systems alongside practical algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Finally, you must possess strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical requirements and inspection findings clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

· The role requires flexibility, as start and end times may change, overtime may be necessary, and you may be assigned tasks outside of this job description.
· Travel, both domestically and internationally via military or civilian aircraft, may be required for official duties or training.
· A probationary period of 6 months must be completed.
· You must have strong written and oral communication skills and be proficient in using communication devices such as two-way radios or mobile phones.
· Continuous learning is expected, as you'll need to stay current with numerous regulations, work codes, and software packages through ongoing training.
· You must adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment and undergoing required immunizations for certain tasks.
