The Role
As part of the network investment team with a budget of over €500m, the Investment manager is responsible for the planning, budgeting performance of strategic network investment cases in alignment with EXA objectives. The role reports to the SVP Strategic Investments.
Role and responsibilities:
- As part of a virtual team, use data driven analysis to identify, prioritise, plan and execute strategic investments within a specific region.
- Work with suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders to create fully costed designs which meet customer and EXA requirements, including negotiation of supplier’s operational, commercial and contractual terms.
- Support the sales team in the pre-sales of expansion projects to potential customers and the securing of anchor customers, including preparation of commercial and contract terms.
- Own, develop and prepare the financial model and materials required to support the investment case to the EXA investment committee.
- Monitor and interpret internal/external demand drivers and price points and determine appropriate application as investment model inputs
- Support the implementation project managers in the execution phase with technical and commercial support, and project change control governance.
- Own the ongoing measurement and reporting of network investments in-life, working with the product management group to maximise the project returns
- Autonomously creates investment case materials - defining and developing investment and budget parameters to build investment cases in line with EXA objectives (with line manager support and oversight)
- Mentors and supports the development of the Investment Manager (L1)
Knowledge and Experience:
- Knowledge of pan European infrastructure market and regional suppliers, including network acquisition price points, availability of regulated products, and alternative infrastructure supply options (eg transport and energy networks)
- Understanding of network design, network construction and network acquisition techniques, as well as dark fibre technology, optical cabling, optical transmission and colocation services.
- Experience of building detailed network build budgets in conjunction with internal stakeholders, suppliers and contractors.
- Good financial modelling skills with ability to create basic cashflow and valuation models, and to operate and understand complex pre-built EXA financial investment models and KPIs.
- Good analytical skills. Able to interpret internal/external demand drivers and price points, and to apply them as investment model inputs.
