Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Registered General Practice Nurse to join our vibrant, busy and friendly NHS General Practice which looks after a diverse mix of patients including a significant number of students in the South Belfast area.
The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care within a busy medical practice, supporting doctors and other healthcare professionals. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your nursing skills in a dynamic environment, contributing to patient wellbeing and health management. The Practice Nurse will be responsible for delivering clinical services, assisting with patient assessments, and ensuring smooth practice operations. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a solid understanding of anatomy and medication administration.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive patient care, including health assessments, wound care, and health education
- Assist doctors during consultations and procedures
- Administer medications and vaccinations following established protocols
- Monitor patient vital signs and record clinical information accurately
- Support chronic disease management programmes and health promotion initiatives
- Wound care management
- Cervical Cytology
- Maintain strict hygiene standards and ensure infection control procedures are followed
- Manage patient appointments efficiently and provide guidance on treatment plans
- Keep detailed records of patient interactions in compliance with data protection regulations
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Practice Nurse or in a similar primary care setting
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Experience in medication administration, including injections and IV therapy
- Wound management
- Cervical cytology
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient groups
- Familiarity with clinical documentation systems and healthcare software is desirable
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
